25 years of leadership

I’m Louise and for over 25 years, I’ve built start-up and turnaround businesses to achieve value and ultimately focus on the final exit.

I have learned the hard way – through hard work, sheer determination and grit. By being in early in the morning and leaving last thing at night. By being hand’s on, rolling up my sleeves and getting involved no matter what the circumstances. By taking my team with me and relying on their expertise.

However you would like to work with me, I offer a flexible and customised service that starts with a chat.

I’ll be honest if I can help you and I will quote you a simple hour or day rate basis. This can be for a specific project or on a trial basis so you can see the value I can bring.

When it comes to mentoring and advisory work, I understand you’re busy and we need to move at the speed that suits you. The frequency of meetings depends on the pace you want to achieve objectives and we will set achievable targets each time we meet.

For the more formal Board work, I will support and guide direction and strategy. If you’re a smaller business, I will look to introduce governance appropriately to ensure all stakeholders understand the importance of a strategic plan.

I’m based in the North East and I’m happy to travel to you. We can easily meet on video conference to fit within your schedule – whatever works best!

I have grown an extensive business network over the years, so I can call on specialised skills if it is required.

From cows to keynotes

I’ve worked with local, national and international clients.

It can be very stressful but it’s also hugely rewarding. It often needs creative thought, a calm approach and ultimately, leading from the front. I am never ashamed to admit when I don’t know the answer, it’s often the best way to learn.

I’m quick to analyse and understand the commercial position – what does the business need to move it forward, how do we add real value to clients and how are important business principles fostered throughout the whole business culture.

Most recently, I have achieved a successful exit by selling Beyond Digital to a London based PE Fund. What started as a 3-5 year turnaround opportunity of a digital signage business, developed into a 15 year journey with many a twist and turn.

I get it, it can be impossible to see the wood for the trees. It can feel lonely and very frustrating. You have to worry about paying the bills regardless of the sales pipeline and when customers actually pay you.

Stressful employee situations and suppliers who can’t deliver. But ultimately your shareholders and your Board need results and you are responsible for delivering.

I’ve literally learned to milk a cow on a dairy farm, I’ve delivered keynote speeches in international conferences, I’ve met the fabulous Joanna Lumley and I’ve driven every street in Birmingham researching properties – just some of the ‘pinch me’ moments my career has delivered.
